Rally for children rights

LARKANA - Child Rights Committee (CRC) Larkana Chapter organised an awareness rally for the children rights, led by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Larkana from Suikarno Memorial to Jinnah Bagh at Press Club here on Thursday.
Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child is celebrating UNCRC week from 16th to 21st November 2009, to mark Universal Children Day in various district CRCs included Larkana, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Qamber-Shahdadkot and other parts of Sindh.A large number of school children and CRC activists’ rally carrying banners and play cards inscribed with child rights slogans marched on the roads via Qaim Shah Bukhari, Girls Degree College and culminated at Press Club.
Addressing the rally, DCO Larkana Mohammed Jaffer Abbasi said that the district government was taking all out efforts to protect the rights of children. He said all closed schools of district will be reopened and present government was priority in the education sector.
DCO Larkana Mohammed Jaffer said the social welfare department and concerned NGOs should take steps to control juvenile delinquency and play their part for better education and health of the poor and deprived children of society.Deputy District Officer Amir Ali Abro said there is need to take steps to control the street children and child labor pertaining to the crime and other negligence, added that in Larkana about 15 thousand children labour working in the garages, hotels, restaurants, scraps and other business due to poverty in the society.
President Larkana Press Club S. Iqbal Babu said the media role is vital to highlighting the issues of street children, corporal punishment and other behaviours of the society. On the occasion, advocate Abdul Rehman Bhutto, Nazir Ahmed, Mohammed Ibrahim Soomro, Javed Shah and others spoke on the occasion.
While, the Ladies Club Larkana and Chandka Medical College Children Hospital also is being organising different events on International Children’s Day today.
