KARACHI - The people in Sindh will celebrate Eidul Azha with great religious fervour and traditional zeal on Saturday (today).
Hundreds of thousands of faithful, accompanied by their children will throng the Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers. They will bow their heads and show allegiance to Allah Almighty.
Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the significance of Eid day and offered special prayers for the solidarity, integrity, prosperity and progress of the country and Muslim Ummah.
They will deliver special sermons to highlight the significance of the day and the purpose of the sacrifice rendered by Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) centuries ago. Eidul Azha is being celebrated in commemoration of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahims (AS) readiness to sacrifice his son, Prophet Hazrat Ismail (AS), for Allah.
The special prayers will be offered for strengthening national solidarity, prosperity, integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan and the liberation of all occupied Muslim territories including held Jammu and Kashmir and occupied Palestine.
The central Eid congregation will be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah (Polo Ground) where the top government officials, ministers, advisors, senior officials, diplomats of Islamic countries and other notables will offer Eid prayers. After Eid prayers, camels, cows, goats and sheep will be sacrificed to revive the Sunnah of the Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
However, the other big congregations of Eidul Azha prayers will hold at Nishtar Park, Eidgah ground North Nazimabad, Aram Bagh Mosque, Kakri Ground, Shah-e-Khurasan Mosque, Jehangir Park Saddar, Faizan-e-Madina, Madni Masjid, Masjid-e-Shaoda-e-Karbala and others places where Khateebs will deliver special sermons about significance of the day and stressed the need for Ummahs unity and for ending differences. Sindh police department has finalised the security plan to maintain law and order during the Eidul Azha celebrations across the Sindh province as well as in Karachi.
Under the Eid security plan, over 12,000 police officers and functionaries have been deployed in Karachi alone while special vigilance cameras have been installed at the places of major prayer congregations for effective security.
Under the security plan, the services of bomb disposal squad have also been acquired and it has been decided that the parking of vehicles would be allowed at some distance from mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, shopping centres, hotels, food chains and other public places. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has congratulated people of Sindh on the holy occasion of Eidul Azha.
In his message on Eidul Azha, he said that the holy festival gives us the lesson to render sacrifice and asked the people not to forget the orphan, oppressed and poor on the occasion of Eid.
Qaim said that the philosophy of sacrifice had become more mandatory this time. Being united people, it is the responsibility of every individual to raise the importance of sacrifice among others on this holy occasion, he added.
