CS directs admins to provide potable water

LAHORE - Chief Secretary Punjab Nasir Mehmood Khosa has said it is priority of the provincial government to provide better civic facilities to the people and complete development projects in time.
He directed the Administrators to give preference to provision of potable water to the masses besides paying attention towards beautification and cleanliness of the cities.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at Commissioners Office at Sahiwal on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Khan, RPO Amjad Javed Saleemi, Secretary Planning & Development Punjab Obaid Rabbani Qureshi, Member Board of Revenue Azhar Hussain Shamim, Additional Secretary Finance Fakhar Cheema, DCO Sahiwal Muhammad Khan Khichi, DCO Okara Ali Jan Khan, DCO Pakpattan Mian Zulfiqar Ahmad, Director Finance & Development Habibullah Jillani Vans, DPOs of three districts and other officers.
The CS reviewed in detail the development work in the division and directed the concerned departments to timely complete these projects. He directed immediate release of funds for completion of under-construction district jails in Okara and Sahiwal. He expressed his satisfaction over meeting the targets of revenue collection and in this regard, appreciated the performance of Commissioner Sahiwal Division Tariq Mehmood Khan. He also reviewed law and order situation. RPO Amjad Javed Saleemi threw light on last years performance of Sahiwal region and told that as many as 23065 cases were registered in 2009. Out of which 21782 were got traced and 17717 challans were submitted in courts.
He said 33043 out of 40012 criminals involved in these cases were arrested and an amount of Rs 31 crore 68 lakh out of stolen property of Rs 50 crore 44 lakh was recovered. RPO further told the meeting that the police traced ten out of ten cases of kidnapping for ransom and recovered the kidnapees.
The CS expressed his satisfaction over the law and order situation and emphasised upon the police to concentrate on checking the street crimes and cattle thefts.
