Followers and devotees of Mr Naeemi staged protests in various areas of Lahore, Hyderabad and other parts of the country. They chanted slogans against the government and set tyres on fire. In Lahore, enraged students of Jamia Naeemia, one of the largest religious seminary of the country of which Dr Naeemi was head, scuffled with the policemen and forced them out of the madressah premises. In Hyderabad, activists of Sunni Tehreek staged a protest sit-in at Hyder Chowk area and set tyres on fire against the killing of Naeemi. Meanwhile, Tanzeemul Madaris, the supervisory body of hundreds of seminaries belong to Barelvi school of thought, has announced a day of mourning tomorrow (Saturday) in protest of the Naeemis murder. The seminaries affiliated with the TM would observe a holiday tomorrow, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman told the newsmen.
