LAHORE - The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) believes in peaceful struggle for changing the system, as killing of innocent people is not permissible in Islamic Sharia.
Addressing the concluding session of JI central workshop here Monday at Mansoora, JI Ameer Munawar Hassan further said that in a Muslim society, the Islamic movements should adopt the mode of Dawah (preaching) and not the bloodshed.
He warned the government of strong resistance if it attempted to drop the constitutional provisions related to Qadyanis and blasphemy under the cover of constitutional amendments. He blamed the US and India for terrorism and bomb blasts all over Pakistan.
Munawar said that the Punjab was the target of terrorism, the NWFP was bleeding because of drone attacks and military operations, the Sindh especially Karachi was facing threat of sectarian and ethnic riots while Balochistan was abuzz with slogans of independence. In fact, he added, the US wanted the Pakistani nation to be disappointed of its future with the ultimate objective to place our nuclear assets under international control and also to impose a pro-India solution of the Kashmir issue.
Unfortunately, he said, the rulers were acting on US dictation, which was making the things worse by every passing day. The JI, he said, had always been stating that terrorism in Pakistan could be ended through dialogue and not military operation.
To a question about Baloch-istan, he said that in order to cool down Baloch anger, Pervez Musharraf must be tried for Nawab Akbar Bugtis murder and the missing persons from Balochistan should be recovered.
He reiterated his offer to the notables from Balochistan to hold a demonstration in the federal capital on this issue and added the JI would fully support them.
The JI Chief said that the rulers had not fulfilled any of their promises during the last two years. He said that Zardari government had failed to provide food, shelter and clothing to the masses, as the economic conditions in the country had in fact deteriorated during this period.
He said that due to Islama-bads weak foreign policy, India was denying Pakistan its due share of water.
