Hot pursuit
By Fakir S. Ayazuddin August 1, 2008 The latest skirmish in Swat has left five soldiers and 25 militants dead all valuable Pakistani lives. The five soldiers dedicated to Pakistan, and paying the ultimate price â€" their precious lives. These are our true heroes and should be revered as such.
The 25 militants have, in their misguided way been led into a battle against a better armed better trained adversary â€" the Pakistani Army.
The militants have been misguided by their leadership into a treasonous rebellion against an Islamic motherland that nurtured them, and their families and millions of other similar Muslims steeped in the Islamic traditions of the Holy Koran and its writings. The culture and beliefs of both sides is identical â€" and unshakeably Muslim. The militants have been tricked by fiery rhetoric to take up arms against the State, by self-styled redeemers, whose real aim is the political power that they may achieve. This aim would destabilise the very foundation of the State leaving us at the mercy of our enemies.
