Give him a fair chance
By TANVIR ZAHID September 26, 2008 After a nine year long dictatorship rule of the army chief cum president ended. Pakistan at last got a civilian president in PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari who has recently elected with thumping majority by the electoral college as a successor to General Musharraf.
Within days of his assuming the highest office of the land, President Zardari has not only addressed the joint session of the Parliament to honour a constitutional obligation but also undertaken a major diplomatic journey to the USA to lead the Pakistan delegation to the United Nations General Assembly's sixty-third session.
In this way, Asif Zardari has not only exposed him to greater challenges of diplomacy at the international level but showed his determination as well as willingness to do some thing really big for the country.
The president's performance at the UN General Assembly forum and in the sidelines meeting with President Bush and others is keenly and closely being watched by millions of people in Pakistan and around the world. So, Asif Zardari in his maiden journey all the way from Pakistan to the US as the newly elected president has lot at stake. He should be given a fair chance to do his bit for the betterment of the country. No doubt, he enjoys a huge mandate of the peoples elected representatives but still he needs support and prayers of millions of Pakistanis for securing success, and really great one, in his gigantic task.
