Thundering and wondering
By DR A.H. KHAYAL August 28, 2008 The masses blame the politicians for their sufferings. Forget the politicians. The masses can rid themselves of their hardships. They must know that in the pre-historic times, there was no such a thing as a country. But man was very much there. He lived countrylessly. His cave was his country. Why don't the masses take a leaf out of the caveman's book? Unfortunately, we have learnt nothing from history.
The masses area country's life-blood. No country can survive without masses. But it can survive without its political eagles. Can you conceive of a country where there are only political eagles but no masses? And look what we have done to the life-blood of the country. We have given a horribly bloody life to the masses.
Let's go back to Musharraf. With his back towards the presidential palace, he is curiously watching the bloody political war going on in the country. Things were very nauseous under his own rule. But they are getting more nauseous. Is he jubilant or depressed? Let's not ask silly questions. The judges problem has become a bone of contention between the two major political wrestlers. The presidency problem has become another bone of contention between them. These bones of contention are mercilessly eating into the very bones of the masses.
According to a reporter, Musharraf is invited by various American and European organisations to deliver lectures there. He has accepted the offers. The lectures will pour lots and lots of money into his sack. The money will not be a result of his own accomplishment. Actually, it will be a gift to him from Pakistan. Had Pakistan not allowed him to do what he did at the West's biddings, the money would never have come his way. Thus he is morally bound to share the money with Pakistan. Would he or wouldn't he do so? Let's not ask silly questions.
