Disbanding NSC?

The dissolution of the NSC is a good omen. The establishment of NSC by Musharraf soon after he took over in a coup was designed to perpetuate the role of the defence forces into the country's politics. It was to enhance the role of army in politics in the country where Pakistan army out of the three roles: guardian, moderators and praetorian ruler type, has played the latter type.
The army has exerted influence in national politics, directly or indirectly by being a privileged class. Out of the 61 years of our existence as a nation-state, almost 32 years have been passed under the direct rule of army. It determined the social, political, and economic conditions of the people as has happened in many developing countries after they seize power and establish direct rule as the single most important existence.
