Come, let's talk
October 3, 2008 IS Afghan President Hamid Karzai a tough man to figure out, mercurial and full of inconsistencies? Or is he just acting the way a normal peace-loving human being would when he begins to realize the near insurmountable odds he is up against? It's got to be either of the two, now that he has offered amnesty to Taliban leader Mullah Omar. To be fair, the overtures to the Taliban are not a very new idea; the Afghan President has been hinting at the same for some time now. True, not quite the way he did in an address on Eid-ul-Fitr, where he offered the Taliban leader amnesty and an offer to protect him if he comes to the table. "If [the NATO forces] try to harm you, I will stand in front of them."
