A routine show

THE conclusion of 15th SAARC summit in Colombo on Sunday was not much different from the preceding sessions, save for a renewed focus on terrorism. It could not come up with something that might be called tangible and thus remained little more than a debating club. What it could manage to conclude this year was the Legal Co-operation Pact in the areas of terrorism and curbing organized crime, assuring food security through the creation of a food bank, grappling with the energy crisis and, lastly, lip service to the South Asian Free Trade Agreement.
