Reminding the UN
August 19, 2008 THE people's movement for their liberation in Held Kashmir seems to be entering a new phase, which is evident from the rallies organized on Monday. The protesters braving the Indian security forces' heavy-handedness submitted an MoU to the UN this time, asking for help in their struggle for independence, a promise to which it has been a party. The people's love for freedom can be gauged from one of the slogans they were chanting: "We will give blood for Kashmir's freedom." By all reasoning, the recent scenario points to the Indian government failure of the past and it would only aggravate the crisis if it persisted in suppressing the people's right to self-determination.
