Violence on campus
August 28, 2008 THE killing of three students and a sentry in Karachi University on Tuesday and the revenge killing of a student leader the next day are signs of the city relapsing into violence once again. That the two student unions engaged in the blood-letting were wings of rival political parties reeks of the ethnic turmoil that had for long plagued the city. There is fear that the conflict in the university could have a spillover effect and spread elsewhere. This may also become a catalyst for general unrest provoking a number of other ethnic groups, which claim the right to be the soul of Karachi.
