Show some efficiency

People of Pakistan understand that War on Terror and law and order situation are very critical issues which must be addressed at the earliest but problems of the common man are equally urgent. The flour shortage, general price hike and health issues also need immediate attention of the government. People are standing in miles-long queues for flour. Dengue and gastro viruses are spreading like wild fire in our cities and the prices of foodstuff are mounting. The public realizes that price hike is definitely a result of the global economic situation; the flour crisis is due to shortage of wheat caused by the smuggling problem. But we think that all problems can be sorted out through efficient management that seems missing in our government. Relief packages announced by the present government have failed to give any relief to the public due to pathetic administration, mismanagement and lack of check and balance system. -NAILA SIDDIQUI, Karachi, via e-mail, October 6.
