Ever ready but...
October 10, 2008 While the armed forces remain ever vigilant and operationally ready to defend the territorial integrity of the Motherland, the prerogative of exercising military option rests with the government. Needless to say that it is not a decision taken in isolation by any one service, be it Army, Navy or Air Force. It has to be desired by the nation as a whole and directed by the government to initiate either a limited, or full-scale, military conflict. -SULTAN M. HALI, Islamabad, October 10.
