The blame game
July 20, 2008
The Indian Embassy was subjected to a bomb attack in Kabul. The Indian government has put the blame of this attack on Pakistan. Once again the blame game has started with India pointing fingers at us and we denying it. It is obvious that Pakistan had no hand in this terrible attack, because Pakistan has itself been a victim of terrorists attacks for quite some time. We do not blame India but they are in the habit of doing so. Pakistan has done more to enact confidence-building measures in its resolve to improve relations with India. The Indian mentality on the other hand has been that of suspicion and malice. The government should now send a strong signal through a diplomatic rebuke to show the Indians that such insinuations without proper substantiation shall not be accepted by us. -DINA JAFFAR, Lahore Cantt., via e-mail, July 10.
