To US Ambassador

August 27, 2008

The reply by Lady Ambassador of USA on the issue of Dr Aafia Siddiqui is a good beginning. It marks the start of a new strategy of at least caring to reply by the parting Bush administration officials. What is not answered, though, is how is it that the event for which Dr Aafia has been charged occurred in Afghanistan but she is being tried in the US? The main emphasis of Mrs Patterson's reply seemingly is that Pakistan did not sell her, and neither did Afghanistan. But who were sold in her stead is missing from the letter. This murky clarification also talks of US not knowing where Dr Aafia's children are and who are the witnesses of the event.
