Choosing a president?
August 28, 2008
Thank God the country is rid of one-man rule after the resignation of Pervez Musharraf. Talk of a new president of the republic is already in the air. PPP is staking the claim that it is their turn and that the next president should be from Sindh. How could it be? Wasn't Pervez Musharraf from Sindh? Be that as it may, it should be the turn of a president from Balochistan. Not a single president has been chosen from there in the entire history of the country. It would also help dispel feelings of alienation in Quetta and help bring the province into mainstream of socio-political milieu of the country. -B.A. MALIK, Lahore, via e-mail, August 19.
