Dam the floods
August 28, 2008 Mona Saleem in her letter on floods asks for urgent
measures to tackle floods. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. The floods
world over are controlled by building dams on rivers. Tennessee Valley
Authority designed and built a series of dams along the Tennessee river and its
tributaries to provide flood control and to generate electric power.
Kalabagh dam will control monsoon floods in the rivers
Indus, Kabul, Swat, Chitral, Haro & Soan, which Bhasha dam will not.
