Foreign fighters killed in Wana hospital raid

ISLAMABAD Security forces have killed eight terrorists and apprehended 44 others in South Waziristan and Swat Malakand region, says ISPR.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday, the security forces carried out search and clearance operation at Wana in which four terrorists were killed and 18 others were apprehended.
The security forces also conducted search operation at Brown Ridge near Jandola and surrounding area and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition. It is reported that terrorists fired at security forces near Barai Sar which was effectively responded. Terrorists fired at security forces check post near Saeed Camp, martyring one soldier. The forces carried out sanitization and consolidation of their positions at Razmak sector.
Meanwhile in Swat Malakand, the security forces conducted search and clearance operation at Bangai Banda near Barikot and killed 4 terrorists. The security forces also conducted search operation in Khairabad near Fatehpur and Gulkada near Mingora, and apprehended 26 suspects. Four suspects voluntarily surrendered themselves to security forces at Khawazakhela and Ahingro Derai near Mingora, Chingalai near Kaga.
Our staff reporter from Swat adds: The dead bodies of two militants were recovered here on Thursday. The bodies were recovered from fields in Kota area of tehsil Barikot. Similarly, two suspected persons were arrested from Banrgai area of Minglore.
Agencies add: Commandos raided a private hospital before dawn in South Waziristan Thursday, killing four foreign militants and a woman, officials said. Troops laid siege to the private clinic in Wana, the main town of South Waziristan, at 2:00am sparking gun battles until around 7:00am, local administration and intelligence officials said. A security official said the raid followed a tip off that wounded militants were brought to the hospital from Sherwangi, a Taliban-dominated area.
Commandos and security forces raided the hospital. Militants fired on the troops and in the gunfight, which lasted more than four hours, four militants and a woman were killed, while 22 others were arrested, said the official. One soldier was also injured. The three dead militants appear to be Arabs and one of Sudanese origin, the official added. The identity of the woman was not initially clear, the official said.
An intelligence official and a local administrator confirmed the raid and deaths of four foreign militants, but said their identities were not immediately clear. The intelligence official said 27 suspects were arrested.
