KARACHI Intelligence agencies have captured two top aides of Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar and local Taliban slain leader Baitullah Mehsud from the Saeedabad area of Karachi and recovered weapons from their possession.
A source privy to the matter told TheNation that the intelligence agencies personnel raided their hideout in Saeedabad and arrested them. They were identified as Mullah Tayyab Agha alias Popalzai and Hakeemuddin Mehsud.
The source pointed out that Popalzai was a close associate and spokesman of Mullah Omar when they were in power in Afghanistan. The arrested militants later taken to some undisclosed location for investigation. The source elaborated that Syed Tayyab Agha was a Pakistani national and his family was settled in Pakistan.
The arrest of Hakeemuddin Mehsud, a close aide of Baitullah Mehsud, was also an achievement of the law-enforcement agencies. The source revealed that he was hiding in the City after the death of Baitullah because he had reservations over the leadership following the row erupted after the death of TTP chief Baitullah Mehsud.
However, the agencies concerned remained tight-lipped when contacted.
