Kerry, McCain due in mid-Aug

ISLAMABAD - Top American senators, John Kerry and John McCain, will visit Pakistan in mid-August to discuss various bilateral, regional and global issues with Pakistani leadership with focus on anti-terrorism cooperation.
Senator Kerry, who is also chairman of US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator McCain will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other senior officials during their stay in Islamabad.
The two senators from the United States will discuss different issues with Pakistani leadership including Indo-Pak relations, Afghanistan and the tribal areas with focus on anti-terrorism cooperation between Islamabad and Washington, said an official here desiring not to be named.
He said the US senators would also discuss in detail the latest situation in Swat where rehabilitation of thousands of displaced people was on after months long war between the Pakistani security forces and Taliban militants.
Pakistani leadership will urge the leading American senators to accelerate the process of financial assistance by Washington to Islamabad as it will help Pakistan overcome the serious financial crisis at a time when its troops are engaged in operations against the Taliban militants, the official said.
