Musharraf defaulter of Rs500,000: MD Pepco

Managing Director Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Tahir Basharat Cheema has said that the company has sent electricity bill to former President Pervez Musharraf amounting to Rs 500,000 which still remains unpaid.
Talking to a private TV channel on Wednesday, he said that a detailed inquiry conducted had revealed that electricity was being provided on low tariff to 34 farm houses including that of former President Pervez Musharraf. He said that an amount of Rs 500,000 was still due on Pervez Musharraf and the company had sent notices in this connection. He said that report on irregularities of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) would be presented to the Ministry of Water and Power on Thursday (today).
He said KESC receives 600 to 700 MW electricity while clarifying that the present power crisis is being faced by the country as no new power plants were established over past so many years.
He said that almost 23,500 cases of electricity theft were registered during last three months and the company has recovered an amount of Rs 4.5b.
