Rajasthan Royals clinch IPL Twenty20 Chamionship
Source: Our Monitoring Desk June 2, 2008 Rajasthan Royals clinched the Indian Premier League Twenty20 Championship by beating Chennai Super Kings by three wickets in a last-ball thriller at the DY Patil Stadium.
Batting first, Chennai Super Kings scored 163 for seven. Rajasthan Royals achieved the target on the last ball of the match. Yousuf Pathan led the Rajasthan run chase with a splendid 56 off 36 balls.
The winning shot was hit by Pakistan's Sohail Tanvir. Rajasthan Royals were captained by Shane Warne.
Sohail Tanvir also won the Purple Cap award on getting 22 wickets in the tournament.
