r the killing of Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad by US forces, a high level meeting was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday to review the situation arising out of this major event.
The meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari was attended by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Army Chief Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, heads of intelligence agencies as well as concerned officers and personalities.
According to official sources, several important decisions were undertaken for ensuring Pakistans security in view of the killing of Osama Bin Laden. Intelligence agencies gave a detailed briefing regarding the killing of Bin Laden and the extent of cooperation Pakistan had extended to the US intelligence.
The meeting was told that the Pakistan forces did not take part in the operation and the operation was done under the US policy and Pakistan was informed after the completion of operation. The US concerned authorities were also in constant touch with the Pakistani authorities
According to sources, fears were expressed in the meeting of a serious and dangerous backlash of Osamas killing in Pakistan and a series of terrorism attack could occur in the entire country. The intelligence agencies and Interior Ministry were directed to ensure fool proof security of important government and defense installations as well as to employ security measures at public places.
The meeting also reviewed US and world reaction over the killing of Bin Laden
According to Online news agency President and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan would continue its cooperation in war against terror and crackdown against terror networks would continue and all possible measures would be taken to ensure safety of our citizens.
President Zardari also took into confidence the participants of his telephonic conversation with US President Obama.
