SC moved to annul hike in POL, gas prices
By ASSAD HAMEED July 3, 2008 ISLAMABAD - Awami Himyat Tehreek (AHT) Wednesday moved Supreme Court of Pakistan against the abrupt increase in the prices of petroleum and gas and prayed the apex court to strike down any laws or announcement of the federal government for increasing oil and gas prices.
Through a constitutional petition filed under Article 184 (3) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, Chairman AHT Maulvi Iqbal Haider along with Shahjan Durrani and Sheikh Rehmatullah advocates has objected to the skyrocketing prices of oil and gas items and requested the apex court to reverse the same as being illegal and unconstitutional.
