ISLAMABAD Islamabad would take up with New Delhi the tangible Indian efforts directed to
destabilising Pakistan after its security forces have discovered a huge quantity of Indian origin arms
and ammunition from terrorists hideouts in South Waziristan.
The government would effectively take up this issue with India through diplomatic channels, Federal
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira told a joint press conference with DG
ISPR Major General Athar Abbas here on Monday.
The minister was responding to a question as to why Pakistan government was silent after the
countrys security forces have found tangible evidence relating to Indian attempts to destabilise
Pakistan. The security forces during the ongoing operation against terrorists in South Waziristan
have discovered a huge quality of Indian origin arms and ammunition while launching the clearance
of militants hideouts.
The minister also gave a resume of relief activities being carried out by the government to look after
the internally displaced families from South Waziristan.
Giving an update about the military operation, the DG ISPR said that 12 terrorists have been killed
while four security personnel were martyred and 6 injured during the past 24 hours.
He said security forces are extending their perimeter of security and closing in towards Sararogha.
Expansion of positions held on the ridges from different directions towards Sararogha is in progress.
He further said that security forces from different areas of the town are receiving sporadic mortar and
small arms fires. During exchange of fire with terrorists 4 terrorists have been killed while 6 soldiers
got injured.
The DG ISPR said that house-to-house search and clearance of compounds are being undertaken
at Kunniguram town and hundred percent of the town has been cleared and secured. While during
the search operation, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and explosives has been recovered.
He said that security forces conducted the search operation in areas Shin Sar and Guru Sar and
recovered 1000 rounds of SMG.
The security forces secured point 7121 and Mangora Sar. During engagements, eight terrorists have
been killed, he said.
The security forces are consolidating their positions on the ridges along Razmak-Makeen road.
The important village of China just adjacent to Makeen has been secured. A huge cache of arms and
ammunition has been recovered from different huts, caves and compounds. Security forces
neutralized 20 IEDs during the clearance of China.
Security forces also secured Kam Narakai located 2 kilometers west of China village and recovered
a huge cache of ammunition, he said.
To a question, he said that efforts were afoot to ensure that no terrorists slip away into Afghanistan.
However, he referred to some intelligence reports that small number of terrorists fleeing the
battlegrounds might have entered into North Waziristan or Afghanistan.
