Nawaz outscores Zardari by large margin: IRI

ISLAMABAD - According to the survey conducted by the International Republican Institute (IRI), a public opinion
monitoring organisation, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the most popular political party, while its
leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the most popular political leader in the country - although his rating has
gon a few points from March 2009.
According to the released statistics, owing to its better performance the Punjab government is at number one on
popularity graph with 82 percent votes, while in Punjab province Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-Q with
6 percent and 2 percent votes are at second and third position respectively.
To a question from public that whether they wanted to see Nawaz or Zardari as President, 58 percent voted in
favour of Nawaz while only 16 percent said that they wanted to see Zardari as president of Pakistan.
51 percent of the public said that Nawaz could steer the country out of prevailing crises and 13 percent showed
their trust in Zardari for the same cause.
