Altaf seeks govt help against Talibanisation

By NISAR MEHDI August 4, 2008

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday said that they (he and his party) warned those who wanted to impose their self-style Shariah with batons and kalashnikovs and made it clear to them that this was not FATA.

He appealed to President Musharraf, Prime Minister Yousaf Gilani, PM’s advisor on interior Rehman Malik, CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Dr Eshrat-ul-Ebad and Home Minister Sindh Zulfiqar Mirza to take emergency steps to protect Karachi from the menace of Talibanisation, else they would be responsible for any untoward situation.

Addressing the general workers meeting at Lal Qila Ground, he announced that MQM would form vigilance committees and appealed to all Karachiites to resort to self-defence against the menace of Talibanisation in the City.
