President Pervez Musharraf has said that conspiracy is being hatched against Inter Services Intelligence, and elements targeting the ISI are, in fact, against Pakistan's interest, reported a private TV channel.
Addressing a ceremony of traders' community at a hotel in Karachi on Sunday, the President said that the nation would have to counter this conspiracy. He said that any step aimed at weakening the ISI would weaken the country.
He further said that the ISI was a defence line of the country, and army, masses and rulers would have to get united to counter the situation. He emphasised that the provincial governments had to come forward to assist the security forces in this regard.
He said that the country's economic condition had become worst. He said that he was not obsessed with egotism and ready to sit on table for negotiations with all political parties including Jama'at-i-Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed in a greater national interest.
