SAARC urges anti-terror acts

They recognised that SAARC has been making steady and incremental progress over the years and in particular since the last summit held in New Delhi towards realising the objectives of the Charter.
The summit noted with satisfaction that SAARC is now entering into implementation phase from the declaratory ones and leading towards realising SAARC mechanism to make it an efficient body for the benefit of the peoples.
The SAARC leaders underlined the need for increased success to energy that is critical for fulfilling the legitimate expectations of socio-economic growth in South Asia. They observed that escalation in oil prices demands immediate attention of the member states to concentrate on the alternate energy resources including solar, wind and alternate energy for sustainable economic growth in the region.
They also stressed for enhancing cooperation between the member states in the field of environment to deal with climate changes.
They expressed concern over the growing water crisis in the region and stressed for laying great emphasis on the water conservation and judicious use of water.
They acknowledged the steps taken by the member states to alleviate poverty in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to continue their efforts with great zeal to overcome poverty and improve socio-economic condition of the people through increased cooperation. They committed to continue sharing their experiences for pro-poor development strategies with a view to reduce poverty and bring prosperity in the region.
They also expressed satisfaction over the signing of Charter of SAARC development funds and called for a deal of this charter.
They acknowledged the importance of taking concrete steps for promotion of science and technology for speedy economic growth that could result in improving life of the people.
They also reiterated their commitment to implement SAFTA in letter and spirit enabling the member countries to enhance their trade relations.
