For the first time after formation of the PPP government, Pakistan People's Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has made a contact with deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.

The contact was made at a hotel in Sukkur on last Thursday night when PPP leader Khursheed Shah called on deposed CJ Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and conveyed a message and some proposals from Asif Zardari.

Justice Iftikhar can be reinstated if he guarantees that he will not interfere in government affairs, Zardari has proposed, the channel reported, quoting its sources.

Meanwhile, deposed CJ's spokesman Advocate Athar Minallah said that Justice Iftikhar and Khursheed Shah came across each other in the hotel. However, he denied any separate meeting held between the two.

On the other hand, Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan said that the news in this connection was unsubstantiated.
