Rehman Malik acquitted in NAB reference
Accountability Court in Karachi has acquitted Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a corruption case filed against him.
Speaking to the media, the Interior Minister said that corruption cases registered against him are absolutely baseless, and that justice has finally prevailed
The National Accountability Bureau had filed a reference against the Interior Minister in 2004 for allegedly misusing his position as an Additional Director of the FIA.
The reference accused Rehman Malik of giving a special, duty-free quota of 50,000 tonnes of bitumen to NSR. Rehman Malik talking to the media said that all NAB cases against him were part of political vendetta by the former Accountability Chairman Saifur Rehman as he had refused to become an approver against former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
"I am hopeful of being acquitted in other cases as well as I am innocent and there is no corruption case that has been proven against me", he said. He said today justice prevailed and it is the victory of judiciary.
Regarding ID card of Abdul Malik Raigi he said that his ID card was a fake. Talking about law and order in Sindh he said that if Rangers are needed to maintain peace in the city than they would be deployed.
