LAHORE - Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan has said that the PTI believes in fight for the rights of the deprived people and not for the victory to safeguard corruption.
Addressing women workers and a crowded public meeting in connection with election campaign in NA-123 on Wednesday, Imran accused the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leadership of having double standards and dual faces to deceive the local people and to please their foreign masters.
Nawaz Sharif can never play with neutral umpires like he used to play cricket in presence of his own umpires, Imran said.
Saloni Bokhari, Shamsa Ali and Mian Hamid Meraj also addressed the participants. A large number of political activists and general public attended the electoral meeting.
The participants were holding party banners and placards and banners inscribed with writings in favour of Imran Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf candidate Hamid Meraj. The PTI workers raised slogans in support of the party chief.
Earlier, on his arrival at the venue, the workers gave a rousing welcome and showered rose petals on Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan.
The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf asked the masses that whom they would like to see as their rulers, those who had proven themselves as shoe polishers of their foreign masters or those who wanted to bring change in the life of a common man.
He urged the silent majority to come forward for bringing the change.
He said that price-hike, electricity shortage, unemployment, lawlessness and injustice were the core issues but neither rulers nor Opposition ever tried to resolve them in the past two years.
He said that the time had gone when the people of the country were being made fool in the name of democracy and now the masses had become so mature and have seen the true faces of the so-called pro-masses leaderships.
He was of the view that the Opposition and rulers were the two sides of the same coin as both wanted to safeguard their vested interests. Nawaz Sharif should bring his money and assets back to the country if he was sincere in improving economy, he said.
Imran asked people for how long they would trust those that had repeatedly not only betrayed and deceived them but also preferred to leave the country to save their lives. Rulers and Opposition were never sincere to the people and this was the reason the poor man facing miseries in all fields of life, he said.
He said that the ball was now in the court of the masses and this was the time to think for a bright future while rejecting the 'tested disloyal elements that did everything for victory only to enjoy the luxurious lifestyle.
Come forward and support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf-backed candidate for a real change, he urged the masses, saying that voting for power thieves and the looters of national wealth could never deliver anything to the people.
