ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Saturday after deliberations and unnanimous opinion forwarded its report about Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro, Judge High Court of Sindh, to President under Article 209 (6) of the Constitution.
A meeting of Supreme Judicial Council was held here under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, who is also Chairman of the Council, said a court release issued here.
The Council continued its proceedings on pending complaint against Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro, recorded the statement of Registrar High Court of Sindh and after unanimous opinion decided to forward its report to the President.
The meeting was also attended by Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, senior Judges of Supreme Court, Justice Tariq Pervez, Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court, Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif, Chief Justice, Lahore High Court and Dr Faqir Hussain, Registrar, Supreme Court and Secretary of Supreme Judicial Council.
Monitoring Desk adds: Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Saturday declared Justice Afzal Soomro to have committed misconduct, a private TV channel reported. The SJC has decided to send to President Asif Ali Zardari the reference of dismissal of Justice Afzal from the service under Article 209 of the Constitution.
