Three Canadian troops killed in Afghanistan

OTTAWA (AFP) - Three Canadian troops were killed and two others were hurt in a roadside blast in Afghanistan, bringing to 111 the total number of Canadians killed in the war-torn nation, the defence ministry said.
The troops were on a security patrol in the Arghandab district, northwest of Kandahar City, when the improvised explosive device detonated on March 3, at around 5:40 pm local time, the ministry said.
The injured were personnel were evacuated by helicopter to Kandahar airfield, where some 2,750 Canadian troops are based as part of the International Security Assistance Force.
“They are in good and fair condition,” the ministry said.
