PESHAWAR - The government is likely to launch another military action against militants and criminals in the adjacent tribal area of Bara and Darra Adamkhel from where at least 26 newly-recruited police personnel were abducted by some unknown militants a couple of days back, official sources said. Meanwhile, missiles fired from a suspected US drone killed five militants in North Waziristan.
The 26 newly-recruited policemen, accompanying seven personnel of Khasadar force, were on their way from Peshawar to Police Training College Hangu via Khyber and Aurakzai agencies, when some unknown militants intercepted and forced them to get off their vehicles. All the policemen, later, were abducted and taken to an unknown location.
Soon after the abduction, police authorities initiated efforts for their early recovery and in this regard political administration contacted the tribal elders of Khyber and Aurakzai agencies.
Meanwhile, some highly placed sources on condition of anonymity told TheNation that the government was planning to start another military action against the criminals in Bara and Darra Adamkhel for the abducted policemen.
Moreover, traffic between Peshawar and NWFP's southern districts, including Hangu, remained suspended on Thursday due to closure of Kohat Tunnel even on the consecutive seventh day.
