3 cops dead in Bannu

BANNU - At least three policemen were killed and three others injured as a result of armed clashes between the personnel of police force and Taliban militants in Peerdil Khel area of Bannu at midnight on Friday.
As per details, some unknown Taliban attacked the Peerdil Khel Police Station with rockets and hand grenades. The police force also retaliated and exchange of firing continued between the two sides for more than half an hour.
After hectic efforts, the police force successfully repulsed the attack, but two policemen, namely Zowedar and Hameed, were killed and three others injured.
Moreover, the paramilitary troops, camped in Bannu Fort, also targeted militants' suspected hideouts with artillery.
The officials also claimed killing of one militant. However, identity of the killed militant have not been yet ascertained yet.
