PESHAWAR - Keeping in view the sanctity of Eidul Azha, spokesman of defunct organization Tehrik Taliban Swat Chapter Haji Muslim Khan announced unilateral ceasefire on Friday.
TTP spokesman Haji Muslim Khan while talking to journalists through telephonic conversation said that the ceasefire decision would be implemented from Saturday (today). He said that the militants would halt their activities in the wake of the sacred days of Eidul Azha.
Meanwhile, the militants set ablaze another government middle school in Alam Ganj area of Tehsil Khwazakhela where valuable furniture and stationery were reduced to ashes. Besides this the militants left Banjot area of Tehsil Kabal and announced in Cham Masjid that they were leaving this area for an unknown location. The militants also embraced with the local people before leaving Banjot village.
Separately, security forces mistakenly fired mortar shell on the house of mother-in-law of a journalist where his wife was shot dead as a result of firing. The wife of Sheren Zada was laid to rest in Knajo area after Jumma prayer.
Condemning the killing of the wife of the local journalist the journalists' union staged a protest demonstration and demanded of the government to compensate Sheren Zada.
