KARACHI The way the probe into Ashura blast is carried out is quite similar to the Nishtar Park blast, The Nation has learnt.
Ashura blast carnage remained a mystery while the police have officially termed the blast as planted explosive device in which at least 44 people were lost their lives and above 100 injured. But some other officials concerned termed it a suicide attack.
According to the police report presented by the In-charge Investigation Committee of Sindh Police AIG, Shafqat Malick, to Inspector General of Sindh Police, Sultan Sallahuddin Babber Khattak, a planted bomb contained 14 to 15 kilograms high explosives material was fixed in the box of Quranic papers which went off with help of a remote control.
The blast was carried out by highly experienced terrorists and the nature of device was different from the blast carried out by the terrorists in other parts of the country, it said.
On the other side, one of the investigator group believed that same sort of explosives were used in the Peshawar and Lahore markets blasts.
It is pertinent to mention here that Special Investigation Group (SIG) of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had earlier called the blast a remote control device.
A source disclosed that the blast which contain large number of sharp objects had a speed of 6,000 kilometer/hour and the pellets went almost four feet high at the time of explosion. Doctors said that the injured and the dead victims of the Ashura tragedy sustained injuries in the lower parts of the bodies.
He also explained that the explosives and other objects being used in Ashura blast were similar to the blast occurred in the processions of 8th and 9th Muharram while 5kg explosive device was also recovered from Shadman Town.
Another source, who opposed the theory of bomb plantation, said that final conclusion would be difficult to made. It will take time because there isnt any clear evidence of bomb plantation.
We faced similar difficulties at the time of Nishtar Park blast tragedy which took place on the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal. At that time, the investigators had also believed that the bomb was planted in a box hanged on the stage but the mystery was resolved when the police arrested the mastermind of the blast, he added.
He explained that same kind of problems were occurred in Nishtar Park mayhem because investigators were clueless in proving the blast as suicidal. But later a missing boy Siddique was identified as a bomber who was dispatched by the same mastermind Sultan who also dispatched Kareem for suicide mission at Allama Hassan Turabi.
It will take time to prove that either the blast was planted or suicidal because Bomb Disposal Squad, sniffer dogs and various other tactics were being used to inspect the route of procession. Than, how, who and when the bomb was planted on a highly busy road of the City.
Source pointed out that some 3 participants of the procession are still missing and if the body parts of them would not found than how could we declined the possibility of a bomber.
