3 Iranians held; arms recovered
By: Bari Baloch | Published: November 06, 2009
QUETTA – Security forces on Thursday apprehended three Iranians suspected of planning a suicide attack in Iran’s southeastern province Sisetan Balochistan, last month killing 42 people including 15 Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
According to sources, security forces on secret information carried out a search operation at Overseas Colony in Turbat and raided a suspected house. However, the accused persons had left the house.
The sources said that security forces later carried out house to house search in the area and arrested three persons identified as Haji Azizullah and two students Jehanzaib and Muhammad Karim.
The security forces also recovered a Kalashnikov and two rifles from their possession.
The accused persons were shifted to unspecified location for interrogation.
According to independent sources, the accused persons are residents of Turbat area.
The sources said that drive against Jundullah organisation was underway on the directives of Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
It may be mentioned that, Iranian Interior Minister Mustafa Muhammad Najjar had visited Pakistan last month and exerted pressure on Pakistan for action against Jundullah, an armed Sunni Baloch organisation led by Abdul Malik Regi that had accepted the responsibility of the suicide attack.
Pakistan had condemned the suicide attack and assured Iran of all support to eliminate terrorists belonging to Jundullah but rejected presence of Abdul Malik Regi in Pakistan.
