Gastro claims four lives in Khuzdar

QUETTA - Gastroenteritis claimed four lives and effected more than two dozen people in far-flung areas of Khuzdar district.
Reports emanating from Khuzdar said that four people including a woman were effected due to gastro. They lost their lives due to lack of health facilities while more than two dozens were reportedly still suffering from this disease and waiting for medical treatment. Names of three deceased were identified as Ahmad, Soni and Baloch Khan. They belonged to Mola tehsil of the said district.
Reports further suggest that some other areas including Hasoni, Pashta Khan and Kyahlo were also affected of gastroenteritis.
About two dozen people, including children and women, suffering from gastroenteritis and so far many of them were shifted to Civil Hospital Khuzdar while medical teams have also been sent to the far-flung areas.
It is important to mention here that most of people of far-flung areas of Balochistan are facing lack of deprived of potable water but they have no access to healthcare centres.
Khuzdar EDO Health Doctor Muhammad Murad Mengal while talking to newsmen alleged that because of negligence of People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative the gastro could not be immediately controlled in Mola tehsil of Khuzdar.
He said that Basic Health Units (BHUs) were working under management of PPHI, however, the office of PPHI was closed for the last many days and its staff was also not available on duties.
The EDO informed that different medical teams were also visiting various areas of Khuzdar district on daily-basis so that people who did not have access to healthcare centers could be provided health facilities.
