ISLAMABAD - A team of US auditors is currently visiting Pakistan to audit the financial assistance made to Pakistan Army under the Coalition Support Funds (CSF) in 2009, sources informed on Wednesday.
The auditors from Pentagon are currently busy verifying the military spending under the CSF, a US embassy spokesman confirmed to TheNation.
He, however, said the team was auditing CSF transactions made during 2009 and had nothing to do with similar transactions made under the CSF during the term of President George W Bush.
Confirming the same, a spokesman of Pakistan Army said the US audit team was auditing 2009 accounts under the CSF entirely for the consumption of the US Defence Department and had nothing to do with Pakistan Army.
Obama Administration decided to conduct annual audit of the military assistance made to Pakistan under the Coalition Support Funds (CSF) had condoned the auditing of the financial transactions made under the Coalition Support Funds during the term of President George W Bush, thus giving clean chit to his predecessor at the expense of US tax payers.
