$2b foreign assistance arranged

ISLAMABAD- The government has arranged foreign assistance to the tune of $2 billion for the financial year 2008-09 from China, US, Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, officials said on Friday.

According to well-placed officials, the government has estimated $3 billion dollars net shortfall in the yawning current account. This estimation has been made on the basis of current level of the foreign exchange reserves and almost ten per cent growth registered by the exports, they added.
