Bajaur Agency Elders and leaders of Quami Lashkar of Salarzai tribe have announced a ban on the entrance of Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir and former MNA Haroon-ur-Rasheed in Bajaur Agency, saying his family was responsible for militancy in the area.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday at Raghgan area of tehsil Salarzai, the elders and leaders of the Quami Lashkar of Salarzai tribe including Malik Mehboob Jan, Malik Munasib Khan, Malik Mohammad Younas, Malik Abdus Salam, Malik Mohammad Akbar, Malik Hafeez-ur-Rahman, Haji Ziarat, Malik Mohammad Nawaz Khan, Malik Mohammad Yaar and Malik Abdul Nasir said that former MNA from Bajaur Agency Haroon-ur-Rasheed was having close links with Taliban and Al-Qaeda and it was he and his family members who spread Talibanisation in the region and shattered the peace.
They while rejecting formation of inquiry committee by the Government regarding demolishing the house of Haroon, said that it was the right step taken by security forces. They said that former MNA also must be held responsible for the 51 martyred persons of Salarzai tribe who were killed by militants. They said that they would ban his entry into the Agency.
Malik Mehboob Jan Salarzai said that in the wake of American drone attack on Damadola in 2005, the JI Naib Amir started campaign inciting people against the Government and Pakistan, thus shattering peaceful environment of the Agency. He said that Haroon and persons from his family were involved in violent acts against people of Salarzai tribe and in the killings of tribal elders as well, adding that they were fully supporting security forces in demolishing his house. The death of mother and niece of Haroon were on account of falling of wall during heavy rain and snowfall and that they were not present in the house demolished by security forces, he added.
He said that there was no need of any inquiry committee, as some of the political parties were voicing for, saying if such committee was formed on the saying of Haroon, then there should be a committee to probe into the suicide blast in a tribal Jirga of Salarzai tribe which resulted in the deaths of 51 tribal elders, in which Haroon was involved.
He said that political parties had no right to interfere into the affairs of the Bajaur Agency as every thing here was done according to the tribal traditions and a centuries old system.
Malik Mohammad Younas said that they would not allow any political partys interference in the agency as there was already a well established Jirga system and tribal traditions, and demanded that actions should be taken against militants where ever they were present in Bajaur Agency.
Malik Abdus Salam said that some of the family members of Haroon were expert in making explosive devices and remote-controlled bombs. He demanded that effective steps should be taken against other members of Haroons family and their houses must also be razed.
