ISLAMABAD Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leadership would likely to cave in to the mounting pressure from secondary and tertiary party hierarchy to oust Pakistan Peoples Party from Punjab Government.
Sources in PML (N) informed TheNation that the party leaders were compelled to review its decision of keeping PPP part of the Punjab Government especially in the face of a series of violations of the agreement made by the PPP with PML(N).
The sources said that the party leaders were infuriated over the breach of the electoral understanding between the two sides, by PPP in National Assemblys by-elections in Manshera due to which PML(N) candidate lost the elections.
Similarly, the hypocrisy shown by the PPP leadership in by-polls in Rawalpindi, where they had extended tacit support to PML(N)s opponent Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, had further deepened the mistrust between the two sides.
It was further informed by the insiders in PML(N) that in the party meetings held in recent past, a large number of party leaders raised their voice against keeping PPP in Punjab Government and asked the party leadership to show them door as keeping them in government was costing PML(N) dearly.
On the other hand, PPP Punjab chapter was also not happy on the way, the affairs of Punjab Government were being run by PML(N) and on a number of occasion, they had lodged complaints with the central leadership of the party either to get the coalition agreement with PML(N) in Punjab fully implemented or let them quit the government.
The sources further said that after the recent trading of allegations against each other by PPP and PML(N) stalwarts, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani rushed to Jati Umra to mend the fences with PML(N) leadership but this time he could not succeed in his endeavour.
The sources in PML(N) informed that party Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif, who earlier was coming in the way of breaking up with the PPP in Punjab, had lost faith in President Asif Ali Zardari and was now convinced that more they would cling to PPP more they would lose in public.
These sources further said that in the upcoming session of the Central Executive Committee of the party the issue would be raised again and this time the party leadership might come out from this state of indecision and would part ways with PPP in Punjab.
The sources further said that in the wake of upcoming Local Bodies elections in Punjab the both parties would be vying against each other and the situation would be like running with the rabbit and hunting with the hounds.
