By SHAFI BALOCH October 7, 2008

Aitzaz said that the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would award medals to the lawyers on October 23rd at Lahore, who have been part of ongoing movement for the independent judiciary.

Another event will be held in Hyderabad on November 15th also, he added.

He said that on the request of Lawyers National Coordination Committee, noted lawyer Ali Ahmed Kurd has agreed to lead the lawyers movement from November 1st.

In his speech, Aitzaz strongly condemned both the incidents which took place on May 12th, 2007 and April 9th 2008, and said that the lawyers fraternity have sacrificed a lot for the freedom of judiciary and reinstatement of the deposed judges.

He said that due to the pressure of lawyers movement the newly elected govt three times in their written agreement committed that they would reinstate the sacked judges but they did not fulfil their promises.

The meeting also condemned the act of Pakistan Bar Council to desist from the lawyers movement and also adopted the motion of condemnation against the Pakistan Bar Council.
