Notification of Tareen as PM advisor today

Mr Tareen would meet Prime Minister Gilani before his oath taking, and a formal notification of his appointment is also likely to be issued today. The status of Shaukat Tareen in the federal government would be that of an economic advisor as he would be heading the ECNEC and the ECC, the two most powerful bodies mandated to take vital economic decisions in the country.

He would leave for Washington on Wednesday (tomorrow) to hold important parleys with officials of the World Bank and the IMF after taking briefing from the PM and key officials in the ministry of finance.
