Govt continuing Musharraf’s policies: Qazi

He said that instead of supporting the indigenous freedom movement in Kashmir, the rulers were trying to please the US and India. He said that it was a pity that instead of stopping the NATO forces from bombing inside Pakistan, the rulers were carrying out military operation in tribal areas. He urged the people to participate in the JI Ijtema-e-Aam in Lahore to take part in the discussion on the prevailing situation in the country. He said that the JI wanted to evolve a strategy for taking the country out of crises and resolving the problems of people.
Our Staff Reporter from Rawalpindi adds: Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said that ‘Mujahideen’ would guard the country if the United States attacked Pakistan.
He was talking to media men after reaching Rawalpindi Railway Station on Tuesday. Qazi was leading Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) ‘Train March’, which had started from Peshawar.
He also demanded that the ongoing military operation against militants in the tribal and NWFP areas should be immediately stopped and PPP government should protect its people instead of the US interests.
He further asked that all deposed judges without any discrimination, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, should be restored to Nov 2 position.
On reaching Rawalpindi Railway Station, a large number of JI workers, including Dr Muhammad Kamal, Shamasur Rehman Swati, Malik Muhammad Azam, Syed Shahid Pervaiz, Raja Abdul Waheed and Hafiz Sajjad Qamar, accorded a warm welcome to the Train March participants.
Later, addressing the gathering, JI Amir hoped that their Train March would change national politics, end prevalent despair and disappointment and forge unity among the people of Pakistan.
He also said that the US itself is the biggest terrorist of the world, which has caused worldwide anarchy and Pakistan could be pulled out of the crisis only by saying good-bye to American policies, initiated by General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Qazi further claimed that the US, Israel and India have formed an alliance against Pakistan’s atomic arsenals. “Now it is the need of the hour that government should create harmony with the people to foil the conspiracy against Pakistan,” he added.
Our Staff Reporter from Peshawar adds: Before the departure of JI’s Train March, Qazi Hussain Ahmed said that pro-American policies are responsible for anarchy and insurgency in Pakistan.
He also said that Pakistan could not be pulled out of the prevailing crisis unless Pakistan keeps on following the US policies.
“The existing crisis will not end if the US keeps on interfering in the affairs of Pakistan”, Qazi said.
He further said that law and order is the most important issue, which needs immediate attention and must address the issue, but, he lamented, President Asif Ali Zardari is following the same pro-American policies of former dictator Pervez Musharraf.
Our staff reporter adds from Gujranwala: After reaching here from Rawalpindi Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad urged upon the govt to call APC to tackle deteriorating law and order situation in the country and, added, that political parties which have no representation in the Assemblies should also be invited in the conference.
He accused President Asif Ali Zardari of pleasing Americans and following former President Pervez Musharraf’s policies.
Joint efforts must to tackle issue, says Nawaz
LAHORE (Online) - Reiterating his firm commitment to wipe off the menace of terrorism, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday stressed that no one can alone combat terrorism as joint efforts are required to tackle it. “It is not a responsibility of a single party or the government alone to fight terrorism,” he said, adding that a national policy must be implemented. He said this while talking to journalists after arriving from Jeddah here on Tuesday. “The PML-N is committed to eliminating terrorism,” he said. He underscored the need for national unity to defeat terrorism. Only when a nation fosters unity and strength in its ranks, we can battle the mounting threat of terrorism and lawlessness in the country, Nawaz added.
