PESHAWAR - A policeman was killed when unknown militants blew up a police mobile with remote controlled
device in Akhund Abad area on Monday.
Police sources said that the incident took place at around 5:00 AM when a police mobile was passing through
Ring Road. When the police mobile reached the Akhund Baba area, the already planted remote controlled
device blew up with a big bang, which resulted in the killing of policeman Amir Nawaz. The intensity of the blast
was so severe that it was heard across the city and caused fear and panic among the people.
The rescuers rushed towards the blast site and started rescue activities. They retrieved the dead body of the
martyred policeman. Besides Amir Nawaz, ASI Waris Khan was also on board the same mobile but he luckily
escaped unhurt.
Soon after the explosion the police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the site of the occurrence and cordoned
off the area. They also collected evidence from the site and examined the remnants of the bomb.
The Police also launched a search operation in the area and arrested nine suspected persons from the site.
Security was also put on red alert and no one was allowed to go near the site of the explosion due to the fear of
any expected follow-up blast. The SSP Operations confirmed the killing of Amir Nawaz.
It may be mentioned here that a day earlier the militants also hurled a hand grenade in Waheed Abad check
